Workshop
Description
Pigment Sticks have revolutionized traditional approaches to
oil painting
technique. They are a fine oil paint with just enough wax added to
hold them in stick form. They can be
used just as you would a tube oil or in combination with tube oils, but even
more exciting, they can be used directly on the surface. Pigment Sticks let you hold your paint
right in your hand, eliminating the need for brushes. They make different marks, can
quickly build texture, can be combined with oils or encaustic, and are great for
monotypes and monoprints. They can be used with many different supports and
grounds and are great for field work because of their portability. Since
Pigment Sticks are such a new medium and there are so many possibilities for
there use, we are now teaching workshops to demonstrate all of these
techniques.

Registration & Policies
Registration Information
Workshops fill up months in advance, so
early registration is strongly recommended. Participants are registered in
the order that their applications are received. You may register by phone
1.800.206.8088, fax (845) 331.3242, or via email:
mail@rfpaints.com. You can also
fill out a registration form
to sign up by mail. Please keep in mind that it is best to phone in your
registration, since we will be able to tell you at that time whether or not a
class is full. If a class is full, we keep a wait list. It is not
unusual for participants to drop out. When this happens you will be
notified asap that a space is open. A $100 deposit is required when
signing up. Once we have received your deposit, we will send you a receipt
which will indicate whether or not the class is fully enrolled. Once the
class is fully enrolled, we will send out a confirmation packet which includes
an accommodations list, directions to the workshop, material to bring, and
technical sheets. The balance of your workshop is due one month before the
class.
For participants that would
like more independent work time, extra days can be added to any workshop held in
Kingston, NY, at a reduced rate of $75 per day. Instruction is not
included, but the use of all paints and tools is. Please let us know
at the time of registration that you want to add days, so we make sure we have
those dates available.
Though rare, if we must cancel a workshop due to insufficient enrollment, you will be notified no
later than one month before the workshop is scheduled. In this event your deposit will be
returned to you in full, or you will be given the opportunity
to transfer it to another session.
If you must withdraw from a workshop, and you give us a minimum of one
months notice, R&F will refund $75 of your initial deposit, retaining a $25
processing fee. We maintain a waiting list, and make every
effort to fill every workshop, but often people on the waiting list are unable
to attend at the last minute. If you must withdraw after the
balance has been paid, R&F will retain the entire amount. If we can replace you
in the workshop we will refund the balance, less the $25
processing fee.
R&F does not assume responsibility for nonrefundable travel and
lodging expenses. We therefore recommend that you wait until your class is confirmed
before making these arrangements.
