 Barbara
Ellmann's encaustic paintings create abstraction out of the geometry
of game boards. They have been exhibited at the Montclair Museum of Art in
Waxing Poetic, in the 1999 Encaustic Biennial, and at the Katonah Museum
of Art, where Ellmann won the juror's first prize. She has shown at the
Bellevue Art Museum in Washington, the Parish Art
Museum in Southampton, the MoMA, and The New York City Department of Cultural
Affairs. Her teaching credentials are extensive. She is currently on
the faculty of the Lincoln Center Institute, Symphony Space, the MoMA, and is
the Director and Founder of the New York Artists
