Description Transform
your imagery by combining alternative photographic processes with encaustic to
give your work unusual dimension, provide new substance and body to a
photograph, and alter the illusion of space. This interdisciplinary workshop
will combine presentations, step-by-step demonstrations, and plenty of hand-on
time to experiment and make new work. We start off at CPW preparing our images
using various processes including toning, coloring, cyanotype, digital prints
and transfers. On days three and four, we will be in the encaustic studio at
R&F Handmade Paints, incorporating the images we made at CPW into the encaustic
process. Using archival techniques, we will explore translucency,
intensification of light and depth, optical effects and layering. This is a
class about experimentation – leave old ideas behind and open the door to new
possibilities and processes.
