What You Need to Bring

bullet

Panels to work on - they should be rigid and absorbent - we recommend 5- 10 small (8"x10" or 9"x12") panels for experimentation - these panels can be lauan or pine, birch or other types of plywood

bullet

If you want a white ground for the encaustics, you can glue a piece of heavyweight watercolor or printmaking paper, museum board, unprimed linen or canvas to the panel using any type of archival glue (we recommend Jade or Lineco) - there will also be work time during the class to prepare panels

You can also bring:

bullet

any favorite brushes that you like to work with:  bristle, sable, and/or Hake artist brushes, no synthetic brushes (they burn) or used brushes (danger of solvent residue)

bullet

mark making tools (printmaking, sculpture, ceramic, dental, culinary)

bullet

images for transferring (Xerox prints), printmaking materials, drawings, watercolor, tempera or gouache paintings, papers you like working with or works on paper, collage and assemblage materials, absorbent 3-dimensional surfaces or object (unglazed ceramics, plaster, or wood, paper pulp), found objects, stencils, and anything else you would like to experiment with
