Titanium White
- For our Encaustic white we use pure
titanium. Warm white. It is the brightest, the most reflective, and the most opaque of all whites. Titanium-Zinc White - For our Pigment Sticks we use a titanium-zinc mix. 60% titanium dioxide, 40% zinc sulfide. Combines the hiding power of titanium with the clean tinting properties of zinc. |

Zinc White - Available
in Encaustic
and
Pigment Sticks Zinc White is cooler than Titanium and has less of a tendency to yellow in oil (the reason why it is often combined with Titanium White). It is only semi-opaque, which makes it a great scumbling white over a darker color. Excellent for mixing, it gives very clean tints. In encaustic, Zinc White has a harder surface, while Titanium White can be gummy. |
