I have added two new styles of economical recessed panels -- both use Baltic Birch for the panel frame. One has edge banding on the frame face, the other has the banding on the frame side.

With a framed recessed panel one can  pour wax into the recessed space or build up layers gradually, or both. The great thing is that there is an integral  frame both protecting the wax edges and providing an attractive gallery ready presentation. The frame can be pre-saturated with wax to allow cleaning it back to the wood after painting or it can be masked and  left natural, stained or painted.
