Cold wax medium for underlayers?

hi all,

i'm interested in making my own cold wax medium that i could potentially use on some of the underlayers of my encaustic painting. i realize that most cwm has some percentage of turp mixed in, which gives it its pliability. this also makes it less than ideal, however, when it comes to fusing, as the turp fumes get released (even if they have mostly evaporated, it seems some remain).
i've tried using r and f's oil sticks for my underpainting, but it does not give me quite the effect or usability that i am seeking...can anyone recommend a formula for a cold wax medium with little or no turp? if not, any other words of advice?

many, many thanks in advance,
jillian
