Opening Reception Saturday, JUNE 9th from 5-7pm Exhibition Runs through July 28th, 2012
Working in various media, Linda Stillman’s work focuses on the passage of time in nature; how plants grow and die, and how we try to preserve the memory of their fleeting moments of beauty. Stillman’s “plant drawings” are made from flower petals and leaves rubbed directly onto paper, creating traces of their ephemeral color while containing small remnants of actual plant matter. The artist will sometimes add a small area of paint to give a benchmark of the color for comparison as the plant pigment inevitably fades.
