The Gallery at R&F / Francisco benitez

The Fayum funerary portraits and the mystery of the lost school of Greek painters have long fascinated Francisco Benitez.  The New Mexico-based artist has embarked on a quest to master the techniques of the Ancients using both modern and ancient tools, infusing his own sensibilities as a contemporary artist with his knowledge of the ancients.  For his exhibition at the Gallery at R&F, the artist will be presenting a series of figures and portraits, including works from his recent Women of Bagdad series.
