Encaustic Collage 5

Encaustic Collage 5 by Leslie Giuliani

There will be an encaustic demonstration at Jerry’s Artarama in West Hartford, Connecticut on Saturday the 25th from 1 to 4pm.

In this “hands on” demonstration with artist Leslie Giuliani, students will learn the basics of working with heated, beeswax-based paint. We will also explore techniques using R&F Pigment Sticks. The sticks are compatible with encaustic and can be a convenient alternative to tube oils.  No experience is necessary to participate.  Contact Jerry’s for more info.

The mission of Friends of Historic Kingston is to preserve the architectural heritage of Kingston. This heritage includes the 17th century Dutch bluestone buildings and the 19thcentury churches, houses, and factory buildings from the city’s canal and industrial era. Many of the factories and houses were built with the red brick manufactured locally at plants along the Hudson River.

R&F’s building is a great example of these red brick factory buildings. (more…)

Mimi Cjajka Graminski at The Gallery at R&F

Friday, April 3rd, 2009 by admin

mimi-gallery-005

All this week, artist Mimi Cjajka Graminski has been in the Gallery at R&F creating a new installation. Using small wax pellets, Mimi has created a series of interconnected, pointilistic drawings - some directly on the gallery walls, some suspended on monofilament, casting shadows on wall. The artist has long been exploring the link between feminism and nature, but she has managed to keep her work soft and personal by using various translucent materials and forms that suggest dresses, bodies, pods and tendrils.

The exhibition will run from April 4th to May 30th, 2009.  The opening reception will be held Saturday April 4th, 5-7pm
