Sizing a Collage

Hey all,

I am going to be a first time user of the oil sticks and want to add them on top of a collage.

The base is an old map (discontinued), the large kind that can be found in college and high school classrooms, so the material is unknown.

On top of that I have applied various cuttings (ranging from 1960's magazines and books, to current books and printings). I used an acid-free repositionable adhesive on the back of the images and was planning on using an acrylic medium over the entire thing to fully adhere the pieces.

However, if I should size the piece will the acrylic medium interfere with this? Does anyone know of a size that would work to also "decoupage" the other images?

Thank you, thank you, thank you for any help on this.

Peace & Creativity,
kk

Re: Sizing a Collage

If the material you are using as a foundation for the work is a mystery, then so is any advice I might give, but acrylic gel medium is used as an adhesive all the time, so it could work. Where do the pigment sticks come in?

Re: Sizing a Collage

Thanks Laura, that was what I kind of figured given a mystery material. The pigment sticks were going to be used to apply text over the acrylic medium... any thoughts?

Thank you so much for your help!

Re: Sizing a Collage

Shouldn't be a problem, but they will be slow drying.
