Join R&F Handmade Paints in collaboration with WSW as we create contemporary waxed handmade paper works. During the first two and a half days participants will work with Ann Marie in the WSW paper making studio, using cotton, abaca, flax and Art Farm fibers. Once the basics are mastered, we’ll investigate the potential of hand paper making. We’ll create collages applying techniques of layering, embedding, translucency and opacity, stenciling, pulp painting, and embossing. After lunch on Wednesday we will travel to R&F Handmade Paints where we will use these handmade paper elements as starting points. After Cynthia presents an introduction to basic encaustic techniques, students will create deeply layered collages by working directly on the handmade papers or mounting the handmade sheets on panels. We will be saturating, bending, burnishing, dipping, staining, transferring, drawing, and carving into this natural wonder.
There is a $45 lab fee for this class.
