Advanced Teaching: Encaustic for Educators in Canada
R&F’s Advanced Teaching Intensive includes lectures, group discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on work time. The goal of this workshop is to help participants develop the skills they need to design and implement masterful, well-organized, and fun encaustic workshops.
Dietlind will review fundamental techniques for running introductory and speciality encaustic workshops. There will be an emphasis on clear explanations of the properties of wax-based paint such as opacity, building layers, and the relationship of wax and oil.
Studio time focuses on creating project templates and sample panels as a record of your experiences, and to share with your future students as visual aids. Assignments include creating two workshop proposals with complete syllabi, a suite of sample panels, and a 30 minute group practice teach.
Instructors who complete this teacher training will be issued a certification of completion and be added to R&F’s Teaching Artist List, which is maintained at rfpaints.com. They will be eligible for discounts on materials to support workshops and may be contracted to do product demos on behalf of R&F.
